Tourist Information Centre, Cambridge IS BACK...

Two friends from very different worlds came together to bring back the Cambridge Tourist Information Centre...

A unique friendship and a love for Historical Cambridge...

Previously council run and then privatised.

With no help or support bankruptcy followed during Covid, another example of the tough circumstances the travel sector endured...job losses, forgotten tour guides and pearls of wisdom.

"Come On In"

One of the most fascinating, old fashioned and secretive cities of the world, welcome to CAMBRIDGE!

"We believe our guests are looking for human connections and experiences that blend history and ancient practices with modern technology"

Greeted with a warm welcome, your experience starts as soon as you enter the Guildhall and the unique, carefully designed shop and mini museum.

Immerse yourself in Cambridge culture, take a peek and flick through some of the books on display or perhaps a photograph of the Mathematical Bridge front desk, handmade.

Help yourself to free leaflets for ideas, various events and attractions that Cambridge and the surrounding area offers.

Purchase a paper Cambridge guide which includes a detailed map, College information and self guided short walk.

Take a seat and ponder, play a tune on the piano, look around and choose some unique and interesting gifts to remind yourself of your time spent in magical Cambridge!

We recommend a two or three day stay to really appreciate what the City has to offer.

Forty minute drive from Stansted Airport or one hour thirty five minutes from London Heathrow for International connections (depending on traffic of course). Virgin Atlantic flight details click here for availability.

What does Cambridge look like in the future?

Locals and Businesses have been asked to put forward ideas and recommendations in a "once in a century opportunity" to reshape the Market Square and City of Cambridge for good.

Considerate tourism - numbers restricted - buy a pass to enter through the gates.

Cambridge Forbidden City, locals may enter for free if you have lived and worked here for a certain period of time - pass authorised - discount on locally produced products and experiences.

Transport, Coaches pay a small levy - pass on to guests if you wish or include in a fair price.

Money goes back in to cleaning up city, security measures, police back on the beat.  Bringing back the market square fountain, trees and wild mini green spaces.

Bringing back the TRAM - it will pass the fire station, University Arms Hotel and take you up to Castle street. Turn around point at the Shire Hall.

Close off Kings Parade Trinity street to cars and electric bikes and deliveroo phased out.

More green spaces for well being and families and seasonal foods from the allotment spaces "less is more" "quality over quantity".

Progress slowed down - consider consequences of your actions

No more new buildings - time to clean up and recover from all of the new builds and influx of visitors and volume.

 Cambridge - slow down.

Contribute to the City in the form of a job or volunteering if you are seeking a job.

Locals retire in PEACE and enjoy what the city and surrounding area has to offer.

Down to 10 mph

According to the Census 2021, the population of Cambridge has increased by 17.6% over the past decade. In 2011, there were approximately 123,900 residents, and by 2021, the population had grown to 145,70012This growth rate is higher than the overall increase for England, where the population grew by nearly 3.5 million to 56.5 million during the same period 1Cambridge’s booming population reflects the establishment of new communities around the fringes of the city

The population of England and Wales is the largest ever recorded.
